MUSICAL JOURNEY

It is said 'when a student is ready the master appears' how true. Uday developed a fascination for the tabla at a rather tender age. He was only 11 when he started his first lessons under Pandit Vamanrao Bhave. At age 16 Uday refined & polished his skills under the guidance of Pandit Vibhav Nageshkar. However, what Uday terms as a turning point in his life came in the form of the legendary 'Ustad Allah Rakha'.

"It was the greatest day of my life, when Ustadji accepted me as a disciple " Uday fondly remembers. He had the good fortune of training under the Ustadji until the latter's demise in the year 2000. Born with an unquenchable thirst for excellence, Uday was soon to attract the attention of Pandit Yogesh Samsi – senior disciple of Ustad Allahrakha and leading tabla player in India .

The sheer joy of training under such invaluable gems has not just made Uday the accomplished tabla player that he is, but has also made him a thoroughly down to earth. As he quite modestly puts it : ' My journey in this wide ocean of music has only just begun. I have miles to go and shall remain a student throughout my life '.
